 *कुठे शोधीसी  रामेश्वर अन कुठे शोधीसी काशी* अध्यात्म या शब्दाचा अर्थ काय ? आत्म्याचा अभ्यास आत्म्याचे अध्ययन म्हणजे अध्यात्म. आपल्याकडे आपण वेद प्रमाण मानतो. वेदाचे सार असणारी चार महावाक्ये आदि शंकराचार्यांनी चार स्थापन केलेल्या पिठांना अनुक्रमे दिलेली आहेत.  ती महावाक्ये म्हणजे प्रत्येक जीवात्म्याने करायचा उद्घोष आहे. केवळ उद्घोष नाही तर स्वतःला कसाला लावून ते महावाक्य आत्मसात करायचे आहे. त्या महावाक्याला पुरेपूर समजून घेऊन आपल्या नित्य आचरणाचा भाग करणे अभिप्रेत आहे.  अहं ब्रह्मास्मि : मी अर्थात जीवात्मा हाच अंशात्मक ब्रह्म आहे.  अयमात्मा ब्रह्मः : माझा आत्मा हाच ब्रह्म आहे.  तत्वमसि : तो तूच आहेस. अर्थात आपले शरीर/ मेंदू आत्म्याला जाणीव करून देतोय तो तूच आहेस. तूच तो ईश्वर आहेस.  प्रज्ञानं ब्रह्मः : पूर्ण ज्ञान हेच ब्रह्म आहे. अर्थात ईश्वर हा ज्ञानघन आहे. बाकी त्याला काहीही भौतिक स्वरूप नाही. आणि ज्ञान हे चेतनामय असते त्याला भौतिक अस्तित्व नाही.  ब्रह्म तत्व हे अनिवर्चनिय आहे. त्याला शब्दात मांडता येत नाही. ते निर्गुण निराकार आहे. पूर्ण ज्ञान हेच ब्रह्म आहे.  हे पूर्ण ज्ञान म्हणजे आ
