Respected Sirs, From newspaper reports of today, we learn that the Maharashtra government has on Friday, December 5, 2014, filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court against the order of the Bombay High Court that stayed reservations in jobs and educational institutions for the Maratha community. The decision to offer 16 per cent reservation to Marathas was implemented by the previous Congress-NCP government in the run-up to the Maharashtra Assembly election earlier this year. MLA, Thane City Dear Sirs, Sub: Request NOT to approve Cluster Development Scheme for Thane, as proposed by the previous govt.. The Mumbra building crash of last year, in which 74 unfortunate people perished, was one of the worst incidents in the history of Maharashtra. The incident had jolted the sensitivities of the people, just like the Delhi Gang Rape incident – as like the attitude of those insensitive and gory rapists in Delhi, in Mumbra the nexus of Politician, Builder, bureaucrats and Police has got thoroughly exposed. Respected Sir, The concept of charging toll was first introduced in Maharashtra by the then Shiv Sena - BJP Govt, way back in 1998. The motive was to recover costs of major infrastructure projects undertaken in the state - 55 flyovers in Mumbai and the Mumbai - Pune Expressway. However, subsequent Congress - NCP govt. made a mockery of the toll policy. As a result toll was charged on all the roads in the state leading to a lot of public resentment. Today almost 16 years have passed since toll was first introduced and by a fair assessment, in projects that were then started, the contractor must have recovered his costs.
