हा लेख इस्रायलबद्दल आहे पण ठिबक सिंचनाबद्दल नाही. कारण ठिबक सिंचनाचा शोध लावून आणि ऊस, कापूस ते धानापर्यंत पाणी खेचणाऱ्या पिकांसाठीही ठिबकने कशा प्रकारे पाणी पुरवठा करता येतो हे जगाला दाखवून दिल्यानंतरही इस्रायलमध्ये पाणीबाणी निर्माण झाली होती. इस्रायलमध्ये मोठ्या नद्या नाहीत. पर्जन्यमान वर्षाला ५० सेमी आणि देशाचा ५०%हून अधिक असलेल्या वाळवंटी भागात ते ५ सेमीहून कमी, सुपीक जमिनीचा अभाव इ. गोष्टी आता महाराष्ट्रातील बऱ्याच जणांना माहिती झाल्या आहेत, त्यामुळे त्याचे चऱ्हाट लावण्याचे काही कारण नाही. पण असे असूनही इस्रायलमध्ये गेल्या दशकात सलग ७ वर्षे दुष्काळ पडला. याच कालावधीत देशाच्या लोकसंख्येत ३०% हून अधिक वाढ झाल्याने पिण्याच्या तसेच घरगुती वापरासाठीच्या पाण्याच्या मागणीत मोठ्या प्रमाणावर वाढ झाली. बरं सर्वत्र ठिबकचा वापर होत असल्याने अमुक एका पिकावर बंदी घाला तमुक कारखाने बंद करा असं म्हणण्याचीही सोय नव्हती. अशा परिस्थितीत इस्रायलने काय केले हे गेल्या आठवड्यात मुंबईत आलेल्या तेथील राष्ट्रीय जल प्राधिकरणाचे प्रवक्ते उरी शोर यांच्याशी बोलताना समोर आले. ते महत्त्वपूर्ण असल्याने लेखाच्

रायगड जिल्ह्यातील म्हसळा तालुक्यात चिरगाव बागेचीवाडी येथील ''वाहते पाणी'' ठरतेय पाणीटंचाईवर मार्गदर्शक 'चोवीस तास पाणी' म्हणजे मुंबई पुणे येथील 2बीएचकेच्या विक्रीकरता गि-हाईक मिळावा यासाठी जाहीरातीत असणारी ठळक गोष्ट. प्रत्यक्षात मात्र फेब्रुवारी-मार्च महिन्यातच हे पाणी कमी व्हायला लागतं. पण रायगड जिल्ह्यातील म्हसळा तालुक्यातील चिरगाव या गावात चोवीस तास पाणी अगदी बारामहिने वापरायला मिळते. हे पाणी कसे मिळते व का मिळते याचा अभ्यास करण्यासाठी चिरगाव येथे जाऊन पाहणी केली तर प्रत्येक गावाचा पाणी प्रश्न सुटेल यात शंका नाही. म्हसळा शहराकडे जाताना देहेन, भापट या जंगलाच्या कुशीत चिरगाव बागेची वाडी वसली आहे, या गावाकडे जाण्याकरीता भापटहून एक मार्ग आहे. पण गावात जाण्याकरीता अर्धाकिलोमीटर चालत जावे लागते. तर दुस-या मार्गाने थेट चिरगाव बागेच्या वाडीत गाडीने जाता येते. याकरीता म्हसळा शहराचे अगोदर सावर गावाच्या डावीकडून नदीचा पूल ओलांडून सरळ जंगलाचा मार्ग पकडावा लागतो. कच्चा रस्ता आहे पण गाडी देखील सहज जाते. गावात शिरतानाच आपले स्वागत करते ते पाण्याचा अखंड स्त्रोत. जणू काय न
