The Hon.Railway Minister,
Government of India,
New Delhi.

Respected Sir,

At your initiative, Medical facilities that charge patients Re 1 have come up at five Central Railway (CR) stations in the past six months.
For these ' One Rupee Clinic ', the railways provide space free of cost and a clinic has agreed to extend medical services at one rupee.
Apart from providing emergency help to railway accident victims in the golden hour, the clinic  has MBBS doctors 24x7 for patients with routine illness. There are visiting doctors like specialists in skin disease, diabetes and gynaecology.
A pathology lab is available offering tests at a discount and pharmacists will sell medicines at discounted rates.

These “Emergency Medical Rooms (EMRs) with one-rupee clinic have come up at Kurla, Ghatkopar, Mulund, Wadala and Dadar.
We understand that they will be established at 15 more stations.

Central Railway has adopted a public-private partnership (PPP) model to do this.
Sir, the first set of such clinics has received tremendous response from the people and very clearly this initiative of the Railways is a hit.

A centre for Thane Railway Station.

Thane has emerged as the most crowded station in Mumbai across all the three suburban routes in Mumbai.

The findings of the survey by Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC) came as a surprise as CST, Dadar and Churchgate were conventionally considered to be the most crowded.
Thane handles as many as 6.54 lakh passengers daily. Every day, more than 1,000 trains pass through Thane, which has 10 platforms catering to two corridors each for the fast and slow tracks and the Trans-harbour network. As many as 55-60 long distance trains halt at the station.
Sir, in view of the above and considering Thane's vantage position in the Railways, and to provide much required medical facility to the commuters, we request you to give necessary directions to the concerned DRM to start such 'One Rupee Clinic ' at Thane Railway Station and oblige.
Our NGO is ready to give all help and support in the matter if required.
Awaiting a positive gesture from you.

Regards,

For Alert Citizens Forum of India,
