RSS and the freedom struggle.

A lot is being talked about at periodic intervals about the participation of the RSS in the freedom struggle.
Today's Congress, which apart from the name, has nothing to do with that time's Congress, and its stooges are on the forefront of this unnecessary debate.
This is an attempt to answer back, knowing fully well that these people will not be satisfied.

RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ) was formed on September 27,1925 in Nagpur on Vijayadashmi day by Dr Keshav Hedgewar .
RSS was formed on the backdrop of the Malabar riots in which Mapilla Muslims from Kerala, in a well orchestrated manner killed Hindus.
India got Independence in 1947 - 22 years after RSS was formed.
From 1925 to 1945, RSS was in nascent stage - still growing. In the meantime, in 1940, Dr Hedgewar passed away and was succeeded by Guruji Golwalkar.

So coming to the contribution of RSS in the freedom movement . Mentioning some facts below and then leave it to your wisdom to decide if RSS was against or with the Freedom struggle .

Below is an image in which one can obviously recognise Dr Hedgewar participating in the forest satyagraha launched by Gandhiji . And mind you, the image isnt photoshopped .

Congress passed a resolution in 1929 for complete independence ( Poorna swaraj ) day, which was to be observed on 26 Jan 1930.
Dr Hedgewar had then written a note to all the Sangh officials which is as follows;

“The Congress has declared that ‘independence’ to be its goal and the Congress Working Committee has announced that 26 January 1930 be celebrated as ‘Independence day’ throughout the country. It is but natural that all of us should feel heartened that this all-India national body has come close to its goal of independence. It is, therefore, our duty to cooperate with any organisation that works keeping this purpose foremost. Therefore all shakas of the RSS should organise the gathering of all the Swayam Sevaks at 6 ‘o clock in the evening and salute the national flag which is the saffron flag. The true meaning of independence and how to present its goal must form the essence of the talk. Since we have accepted this goal of the Congress, the party must be congratulated for it. The report of this programme must be sent to us”.

Nevertheless it is true that RSS did refrain from violent agitations be it from Congress or the Hindu Mahasabha( Although they had all the respect for Veer Savarkar ) . When the Mahasabha announced its agitation against the Nizam, RSS had distanced itself from it. This had angered one person very much.
That person was ex RSS man now in Mahasabha - Nathuram Godse . He was miffed with the fact that RSS was taking a soft approach. Infact the Pune RSS Chief wrote something to the fringe elements in the Mahasabha . “First of all, I wish to tell the malicious minds that the RSS is neither a military force for the Hindus nor the military wing of the Hindu Mahasabha. The Sangh’s endeavor is to make the Hindus nationalists in the true sense...”

RSS had helped Rajguru with proper arrangements in Nagpur while he was absconding . This was accepted by the the grandsons of Rajguru's brother.

Golwalkar Guruji had condemned those who were helping the British Govt . On 28th April 1942 he not only resolved to do its duty but also told his volunteers to be ready to sacrifice there lives for the cause of the country . (No.D. Home Pol. (Intelligence) Section F. No. 28 Pol).

Not only Rajguru, but RSS had also provided safe grounds to many freedom fighters like Aruna Asif Ali who was with Lala Hans Raj Gupta of RSS , Nana Patil was protected by Pandit Damodar Satvalekar.

On 16th August 1942 at Chimur in Maharashtra, RSS workers did participate in a Quit India agitation under Dada Naik who was the chief of the Chimur RSS and Sant Tukdoji Maharaj who was very closely associated to the RSS . Later on Sant Tukdoji Maharaj became a co founder of VHP . Dada Naik was sentenced to death by the British after they suppressed the uprising . Another RSS worker Ramdas Rampure was also shot dead.

Anyway, even after all what the RSS had done to support the freedom movement - remember, no party or Organisation had participated by name, all were supporting the Congress, as it was the oldest Organisation and was made the flagship of the freedom movement for sake of unity, RSS was despised because it always resisted the anti hindu and anti nation agenda of the Congress .
It never let India become a Marxist nation and never let people like Mao Zedong and Stalin become Idols of India .
The riots and conversion that used to take place in an orchestrated manner were resisted tooth and nail .
None can and will ever be able to fault the faith of Hindus in the RSS . They were a nightmare for the Congress and the Left and will be so until they mend their ways .

Citadels of Left are being crushed by them at every corner not to potray any power but to showcase that India can never run on the diabolical policies given by outsiders like Stalin, Mao and Lenin . Christian missionaries should be scared of RSS because they will not be allowed to convert our poor yet hardworking tribal hindu brethren with the money power and convent education for their children. And yes RSS wont rest until the dreams of Late Great Veer Savarkar ji isnt fulfilled - Hindutva and Akhand Bharat.
