Indo - Israel relations - Dawn of a new era.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Israel is indeed path-breaking and historic.
It is the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Israel since Independence.
Actually, India and Israel should have been natural allies since the beginning but for the warped policies of Muslim appeasement by Nehru and the Congress.
This visit is the dawn of a new era because for the first time India is openly engaging with Israel without fearing what the Arabs ir Muslim countries will feel.

Let us have a look at our relationship with Israel so far :
Following events in the history play a very crucial role in bringing India and Israel as Close Friends :
1.Historic Jews settlement in India (Bene Israel) : There are evidences of more than 6000 Jews in India around 1830. Indians treated Jews respectfully where there are still many Jews residing in the coastal Konkan region in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Post Indian Independence many of these Jews migrated back to Israel.
2.Recognition of State of Israel : In the 1948 UN resolution, India under the leader ship of Jawaharlal Nehru, voted against the formation of state of Israel. However many Prominent Indian leaders were vocal and supportive of the state of Israel including VD Savarkar, RSS and Hindu organizations. India officially recognized state of Israel in 1950, two years after its formation.
3.Israel set up its embassy in Mumbai India then and vice versa, However the relations were not very close till 1992. Indian economy opened in 1991, which meant better relations with USA and subsequently with Israel(as USA is biggest ally of Israel).
4.Also a common closeness factor is both India and Israel have been troubled by Islamic domination in the middle east. Israel due to its location and India sue to terrorist attacks on its soil. Military and intelligence cooperation help tackle terrorism.
India–Israel relations refers to the bilateral ties between the Republic of India and the State of Israel. The two countries enjoy an extensive economic, military, and strategic relationship.India is the largest buyer of Israeli military equipment and Israel is the second-largest defense supplier to India after Russia.
From 1999 to 2009, the military business between the two nations was worth around $9 billion. Military and strategic ties between the two nations extend to intelligence sharing on terrorist groups and joint military training.
As of 2014, India is the third-largest Asian trade partner of Israel, and tenth-largest trade partner overall. In 2014, bilateral trade, excluding military sales, stood at US$4.52 billion.
As of 2015, the two nations are negotiating an extensive bilateral free trade agreement, focusing on areas such as information technology, biotechnology, and agriculture.
Hope that this visit will further strengthen our bond and together both the countries forge a formidable alliance.
