Dharali Floods | Indian Army Intensifies Rescue Operations
🕕 Update as of 0600 hrs, 07 August 2025:
🇮🇳 The Indian Army has ramped up its Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) efforts in flood-hit Dharali near Harsil, Uttarakhand.
🔹 225+ troops on ground including engineers & medical teams
🔹 Drones deployed for aerial reconnaissance and locating stranded civilians
🔹 Two helipads (Harsil & Nelong) operational for troop induction & casualty evacuation
🔹 Major road breaches at Bartwari, Linchigad, Gangrani & near Dharali
🔹 Chinook & Mi-17 helicopters on standby in Dehradun
🔹 Ad-hoc airbase being set up at Matli Helipad
🔹 Recco radar teams, rescue dogs & 5 civil choppers from Sahastradhara aiding search ops
✅ 70 civilians rescued so far
⚠️ Casualty report:
• 3 civilian deaths confirmed
• 50+ persons still missing
• 9 Army personnel (1 JCO & 8 OR) feared missing due to post damage
• 8 injured civilians admitted at District Hospital, Uttarkashi
• Around 180–200 stranded tourists in Gangotri being provided food, shelter & medical care by Army & ITBP
🎖️ With Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, Army Commander Central Command and GOC UB Area on-site, rescue efforts are being closely coordinated with HQ Central Air Command, SDRF, ITBP, and civil administration.
🇮🇳 One IAF Chinook has already taken off and is about to land at Harsil.
🇮🇳 The Indian Army stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Uttarakhand in this hour of crisis.
