Symptoms of Covid 2nd wave

Symptoms

COVID-19 affects different people in different ways. Most infected people will develop mild to moderate illness and recover without hospitalization.

Most common symptoms:
fever
dry cough
tiredness
Less common symptoms:
aches and pains
sore throat
diarrhoea
conjunctivitis
headache
loss of taste or smell
a rash on skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes
Serious symptoms:
difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
chest pain or pressure
loss of speech or movement
Seek immediate medical attention if you have serious symptoms. Always call before visiting your doctor or health facility.
People with mild symptoms who are otherwise healthy should manage their symptoms at home.
On average it takes 5–6 days from when someone is infected with the virus for symptoms to show, however it can take up to 14 days.

"The second wave is much dangerous and contagious than the first one. It is affecting the younger population, more than usual. Lung penetration and respiratory failure are much much faster. In 2nd wave we have also seen that children are getting infected which was rare in the first wave. Also, as per the symptoms are a concern, in the first wave symptoms were fever, chills, cough, body ache, and loss of smell and taste but in the 2nd wave there are more symptoms as compared to 1st wave-like pink eyes, loose motions, and hearing impairment. These are totally a new sign detected in 2nd wave" said Dr Ravi Shekhar Jha, HoD & Senior Consultant - Fortis Escorts Hospital, Faridabad.

One of the faculty of genetic epidemiology at King’s College London, Professor Tim Spector, wrote on his Twitter handle and said, “One in five people with Covid still present with less common symptoms that don’t get on the official PHE list – such as skin rashes. Seeing increasing numbers of Covid tongues and strange mouth ulcers. If you have a strange symptom or even just headache and fatigue stay at home!”
