Metro Carshed project

Remember during 1995-2000 when the Sena BJP alliance started building flyovers all over the city, there was big hue and cry, drama, widow weeping about whats the use, why are they spending so much of tax payers money in this etc. Within 5 years people came to know how bad Mumbai's scene would have been if the flyovers were not built at that time.

Similar thing happened during Kokan Railways. Similar protests happened that time giving reasons that this being done to make a way in for the outsiders in Kokan. False stories were being propagated how Kokani people will loose thier lands, jobs, opportunities to the outsiders. Now it is the Kokan people who have been benefited form it the most. 

Now for Metro same thing is happening. Despite of Govt of Maharashtra giving clarification over clarification, some vested interest groups don't want the Metro Shed to be built in Aarey as it would restrict their future encroachment. Govt has clarified that it is not touching any of the endangered trees or plants and has planted enough replacements for the trees that are being cut down. It has given clarifications regarding how the other sites suggested by the "new born enviroterrorists" "celebrity activitists (who do not travel anywhere without AC vans, cars)", "children and youth" (who don't even know what the protests is about but come there to be scene in the videos that circulate on Social Media post the protest), would increase the cost and thereby the rates of tickets.

What the above protesters are not telling you is about the reduction of carbon footprints with the running of the Metro. We all have seen the benefit of the Andheri Ghatkopar Metro. It has reduced number of vehicles drastically in that region. It has reduced the travel time drastically.

So who are these vested interest groups that don't want this to happen? A big builder who already has presence there and wants to encroach Aarey further. Vehicle companies, who are already facing "slowdown" will face reduction in sale if the entire Mumbai starts travelling by Metro. Taxi unions, auto unions etc which are always against any development in the mass transport sector as it straight away affects their business.

And to all the protesters - If you really care of Mumbai's health so much, for future generations so much, then first give away using ACs, Mobile Phones, travelling my private vehicles, using laptops, computers, using plastics, using anything that has been produced in factories. Lets get back to the stone age and give a perfect future for our next generation. Are you ready to do that? Most of the protesters in the Aarey campaign are the people who haven't used public transport in their entire life. Who haven't seen how Mumbaikars travel during peak hours, in Trains, In Buses, waiting for rickshaws, taxis etc. They won't be affected a little if the Metro Project is, scrapped, delayed or becomes costlier. It is the Mumbaikars like you and me who will be affected. We will keep on traveling like herds in train, buses, spending precious time in traffic jams, cursing each other.

So #Mumbaikars Think Wise. Don't fall prey to the vested interest groups.
