*My 10 commandments for the BJP*

*My 10 commandments for the BJP*

Last couple of days we are watching Exit polls on many different news channels.
There are no surprises - call it Tsunamo or Shahnami or whatever.  Even the worst case scenario numbers tell us that BJP is in for next 10 years (not 5).  Never mind whether the country has progressed or not, this also indicates that BJP has progressed from being a Tenant to a Flat Owner to a Bungalow Owner.
As an opposition party prior to 2014, it was expected that BJP would complain about everything about the then Government, much like the Tenant who would complain about everything from orientation of the house to lake of space for oversized refrigerators.

From 2014 onwards they became flat owners  and yet there were complaints ranging from water supply downtime to gully boys playing cricket.  Now as owners of a bungalow on a 1 acre estate, all such complaints are annulled because it is they who will decide which direction the house should be oriented, where to make space for the oversized refrigerators, how to conserve water and when to play cricket where.

With the title of being owners also comes the ownership and it is time BJP acts like a ruling party whose focus should be the nation and only focus should be the nation and people who gave them the ownership.

Then there are these ten commandments very important according to me -

1. Stop going after nothing -  If exit polls are going to come true, Nehru-Gandhi family will be reduced to nothing. So you cannot go after nothing.  Over last 5 years BJP has made so much noise about how systematically Nehru-Gandhi family have messed with the country  that by now even a child in Mother’s womb also knows it.
2. Walk the talk of religious harmony - This is a golden opportunity presented to BJP to show the World that India is different and when we say religious tolerance we mean religious harmony and not religious hegemony. It is time to correct the historical vote bank mistakes made by every ruling party till now without exception and make this country a harmonious pot-pourri, whose perfume could spread across the continents.
3. Stop pussy footing on Article 370  - Article 370 was supposed to be a temporary provision granting special autonomy to Kashmir.  If it has to be done away with, then the timelines and the action points need to be clearly drafted and executed.  This includes convincing Kashmir as to why it should be a part of mainstream India and telling them how it will benefit them.  This also includes giving those benefits back and not just exploitation of heaven on earth for tourism without concurrent development as the preceding governments of other parties have done.  Else make temporary provision permanent and explain to rest of the nation
4. Stop the prowl and decide whether it is Guns or Roses vis-a-vis Pakistan - If it is Guns,  tell the International Community and go on with Israeli ruthlessness to put the backstreet irritants in place.  If it is Roses, tell the International Community and carry the bouquet and convince the neighbouring father that his children ought to behave for his sake and play cricket with our children rather than throw stones at our glass windows
5. Do away with the fringe parties and the fringe people -  Fringe parties have fringe agenda and never the national agenda.  BJP could be big enough alone to let go of these parties or tell them to toe the line.  Ditto for fringe people in the party who thrive on fringe issues like Ram mandir, cow slaughter ban, renaming of Railway stations, etc
6. Solve the conundrum of increase in GDP and increase in unemployment -  How come GDP and Unemployment, both have gone up by  7%.  Macroeconomic theories suggest increase in unemployment rate by two points is associated with decrease in GDP by one points.  How come then both are increasing?  India is in a vantage position of its manpower as its biggest strength (leave aside the problems associated with it) but it is time to convert the manpower strength into GDP.  This would mean grass-root level mobilisation of masses to produce right things driven by a visionary Finance Minister.
7. Upliftment of the downtrodden - Downtrodden are the people whose children still study under the street lights despite the claims of 100% electrification.  Downtrodden are the people to whom the subsidies do not get passed on despite living below the poverty line.  Downtrodden are the people whose manual labour does not get the due - neither dignity nor dough.  Downtrodden are the people who have the capability but not affordability of higher studies as the seats are snitched by the perjurized caste certificates.
8. Connect hearts through the infra-structure -  Infrastructure is the barometer of country’s progress. Yes, the roadways and railways may be one of the largest in the World in terms of the length, but quality - no idea.  Make it easy for people to move from one place to another then you will break the barrier of hearts set for ages in the name of caste, community, sect, cult, language, religion, etc.
9. Let ours be the nation of intellectuals because that is what we are known for - Let the sharp brains of the country get a platform to give the value back to the country.  Reverse the brain drain.  Sundar Pichais and Satya Nadellas ought to be here with us creating global giants here with us and providing employment here for us. It is time to create a quasi cabinet of intellectuals and experts in the respective fields like education, medicine, sports, etc.  let the elected 300 plus focus on governance.
10. Shut up and don’t be arrogant - .  Power does not mean muscle power. Power does not mean taking a stick and beating up people to confess that they will eat what you think they should eat, they will speak what you think they should speak, they will wear what you think they should wear.  Power means giving and taking respect.  Power means humility. More importantly power means responsibility.

The nation has elected you by choice or compulsion and you owe it back to the nation.  If you do not, then we deserve it.

If exit polls do not come true then we are in for a bigger trouble !!
