"Agli baari - Atal behari"..
Agli baari Atal behari...This was the mantra which kept us BJP karyakartas going, kept our spirits high for so many years..
We lost in 1980. We lost in 1984, We lost in 1989, we lost in 1991 and again in 1996...
After every defeat, Atal ji used to say : Chalo punashchya Hari Om karo - go back to the people, work hard, convince them...And we karyakartas would do just that...
Because we karyakartas believed in Atalji's prophecy : Andheri Chatega, Suraj niklega, Kamal khilega...
Atal ji made us believe that one day, we can displace the Congress as the main party in the country...
But for achieving that you have to work...रंग लाती है हीना - पत्थर पे पीस जाने के बाद..
And then the number started going up... from 2 to 88 to 116 to 161 to 182 - in 1999 and with NDA, the dream was achieved...Atal Behari - our leader, our Baapji, our God became Prime Minister.
त्याग, तपस्या और बलिदान - 3 things in which we karyakartas took pride that we are a party with difference - had ultimately borne fruit..
But for it our leaders had shown the way - Advaniji's tireless toil to strengthen the organization, cross crossing the country with the Ram Rath Yatra, Suvarna Jayanti Rath Yatra, Surajya Rath Yatra - even in advancing age; Murli Manohar Joshi Ekta Yatra to Kashmir and hoisting the National flag at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, Pramod Mahajan's Chanakya Niti - the leaders inspired and slogged to realize the ultimate dream of every BJP karyakarta - अगली बारी, अटलबिहारी..
Even then, when hiccups came along the way - in 1996 the 1st BJP Govt lasted just 13 days as we did not have majority, then in 1998 our Govt fell by one vote after the betrayal by Jayalalitha and Mayawati. Then tough times with Global terror rising - the 1999 Indian Airlines plane hijack, the 2001 attack on Parliament.
Everytime, thanks due to Atalji's leadership the party overcame crisis and rose like a Phoenix.. successfully completing it's term and becoming the first ever non Congress govt. to do so.
When opposition leaders had mocked Atalji after the one vote defeat - he had retorted that a day will come when BJP will rule the entire country and people will laugh at you..
This prophecy too has been fulfilled by his protege Narendra Modi.
Atalji and Advani ji - the Ram Lakshman duo of BJP created the base on which the party is now building and expanding..
Atalji was decorated with Bharat Ratna in 2015. Sadly, due to health issues, he could not fully comprehend what was happening...
Today, the Ajatshatru, Bheeshma of Indian politics, Atalji for the karyakartas, Baapji is no more amongst us..
But we are sure, that wherever he will be, his blessings shall always inspire the people of the country.
